Blinds on Doors Window Measuring Guide

   Atrium, French & Standard Doors

There are many different types doors. This guide provides some generalities on how to approach measuring. You should be able to adapt these suggestions to your application.

Measure the width, which is usually the width of the window plus overlap on each side.

Measure the height from where the top of the head rail will be to below the glass where you want the shade to overlap. Round to the nearest 1/8".

Order Outside Mount. The factory will not take any deduction for a blind ordered “outside mount”. The head rail will be the exact width you order, the fabric or slats will be slightly narrower, depending on the type shade.

We recommend that the controls be ordered for the hinge side of the door so they don’t get in the way when the door is opened and closed.

Important cautions when measuring doors
Make certain there is ample clearance for the blind’s head rail when the door swings open.
Make certain the mounting screws will not penetrate into the hidden glass within the frame.
Make certain the shade will clear obstructions such as handles, hinges, and any other hardware.

For a list of Head Rail Depths, see Chart 1 - Head Rail Depth and Minimum Bracket Depth below.
